AO2: Meeting Mr. Tumnus by EMAAN HASEEB

The passage “Meeting Mr Tumnus” is a story which is written by C.S Lewis. This story tells how Lucy and Mr.Tumnus meet for the first time.

The thesis of my analysis is that I like this passage because it is fascinating.Lucy is a friendly kind of person and so is Mr.Tumnus.The passage really attracts the readers attention and makes them want to read further.
The title describes what the passage is about, for instance, “Meeting Mr.Tumnus”.The intended effect is that the title tells me that Lucy and Tumnus are going to meet for the first time.
The author C.S Lewis is a classical writer. As for in the intended effect I think that the extract is going to be extremely interesting.
Genre of this story is fictional novel as there are mythological creatures from literature Rome and ancient Greece like a ” Faun”.While the intended effect is that reading this imaginary novel it stimulates strong feelings.
This story is based on friendship:how Lucy and Tumnus become friends. For example,I would like to quote some of their wordings here , “I don’t think you’re a bad Faun at all”, I think you are a very good Faun. You are the nicest Faun I’ve ever met.
The content here is that Lucy and Mr.Tumnus are trying to become friends.Tumnus asks Lucy the same question three times, “You are what they call a girl” , and “You are in fact Human?”. By reading these quotes it reminds me of my friends.
Basically the purpose of this story is connative which means to entertain the readers. For example: when Lucy says “Of course im a girl”. So the intended effect is that it creates mystery for the readers.
Audience is young adults and children. For example: “Allow me to introduce my self.My name is Tumnus”. This makes me feel enthusiastic and find out what will happen next.
The style of this story is narrative. For example, I would like to quote a narrative sentence here:”This is the land of Narnia”, said Faun.”. The intended effect adds colour to the story to make it look more attractive and beautiful.
Tone is positive, excited and cheerful, “Good evening , good evening”. It induces strong emotion makes the reader cheerful and forgets all his worries. The attitude is loving and warm. For example:”Very pleased to meet you” ,” One for me and one for a friend”. This relates to our values and attitudes as well as the reader feels comfortable.
For the linguistic feature a great amount of punctuation is used. For example:”Excuse me- I don’t want to be inquisitive should be —–“, “Now Daughter of Eve !”. The intended effect helps in making a point. The other linguistic feature comprises of variables with dialouge. For example:”My name is Tumnus”. The intended effect creates a detailed picture it helps us picture, create a smooth thought , helps to read easily and comprehend better. There are also too many long and short paragraphs used in this passage because of radiation it is easy to read and comprehend.
There is a very bright use of F.O.S in this passage. For example simile:”as if his heart would break”.The intended effect adds colour , induces emotion as well as creates a picture in readers mind.
At last the conclusion is that it makes me want to watch the movie, read further and visit Narnia.
